Cookie policy

Browser storage and cookies

Cookies are small values a website can ask your browser to store and return with later requests. TaxKit's first-party preference and expense features use browser storage, which is browser storage and is not itself a cookie. These values have no fixed expiry and remain in this browser until they are cleared.

The technologies used on this site may change when optional services are enabled. This notice describes current browser storage and identifies advertising storage as conditional rather than listing inactive cookie names as if they were already set.

Storage used by TaxKit

The preference key taxkit-cookie-choice records whether you selected accepted or declined for optional advertising. The taxkit-expenses key stores the expense entries you choose to add to the tracker. These values remain in the browser's browser storage until you clear them or remove the entries in the tracker. The invoice generator creates its PDF in your browser and does not save invoice details to a TaxKit account.

The preference control is a basic site setting, not a granular consent platform. It does not expose separate analytics or functional categories, and TaxKit does not currently configure Google Analytics. Do not treat this notice or control as a statement of certification under IAB Europe TCF 2.3.

Storage and technologies table

The following table distinguishes browser storage from cookies. Optional advertising technologies are only requested if the site operator enables AdSense and the visitor allows advertising. Google or its partners may then set or read cookies according to their current service behavior and policies; exact names and lifetimes can vary, so inactive names are not listed as active TaxKit cookies.

Optional advertising

When Google AdSense is enabled on this site, its script and ad units are withheld unless you have allowed advertising in the site's preference control. Advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies for ad delivery, frequency controls, measurement, fraud prevention, and, where permitted, personalization. The advertising provider's own disclosures explain how its technologies operate.

For information about Google's current practices, see Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and advertising technologies at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can review ad personalization controls at https://adssettings.google.com/. Additional industry resources include https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ and https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/.

Managing your choices

Use Cookie settings in the site footer to reopen the preference notice and change your advertising choice. You can also clear browser storage or block site data in your browser settings. Browser controls are available in Chrome under Privacy and security, in Firefox under Privacy & Security, in Safari under Privacy, and in Microsoft Edge under Cookies and site permissions. Names and steps may change between browser versions.

Blocking all site storage may remove saved expense entries and your preference. Keep a separate copy of information you need. If you decline optional advertising, TaxKit does not request the optional AdSense script through this application; this does not control unrelated browser extensions, network services, or cookies set by other websites.

Privacy rights and policy changes

Depending on where you live, privacy laws may provide rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing. Those rights depend on the law and facts that apply. Contact the site using the details on the contact page to raise a privacy request. This site does not claim that its basic preference UI is a certified consent management platform or that it independently establishes compliance with every regional consent rule.

We may revise this policy when the site adds or removes storage, analytics, advertising, or other services. The date at the top shows the review date for this text. Please revisit the policy if you continue to use the site after a material update.
